Self-care for the workplace

After working long hours, I’m sure the only thing you want to do at the end of the day is watch tv and go to sleep.

The thing is, when you get into a habit of always working and never taking the time to care for yourself, this just becomes who you are.  Eventually this leads to burnout and much more.

Professional self-care is very important, especially because a big chunk of our stress comes from work challenges.  Also, we spend most of time at work or in an office so when you think about it, we spend the majority of our day exposed to stress.

🤷🏽‍♀️We have to work right, so what can we do?

-Try practicing self-care at work and don’t wait until you get home when you may not have the energy or strength to do anything.

  • Take and enjoy your lunch breaks. Try to have a healthy, well balanced lunch and try not to eat at your desk.

  • Take a couple of breaks throughout the day, especially if you feel stressed out and overwhelmed. Try stepping outside for a couple minutes, or, if you can, put some headphones on and play your favorite song.

  • Use your vacation and sick days.

  • Find and cultivate a support system at work - someone you have things in common with who you can talk to and confide in. A supportive relationship.

  • If you can, try decorating your area. Organize and declutter your work space. Add things from home that are comforting to you, pictures of friends and family, and a plant, whatever you can to make your space more comforting.

Establishing morning and evening routines are also extremely helpful for distressing your day and upping your productivity.

I hope this helps.
