creating a morning routine
☀️Morning routine
🌞Not having enough time to take care of ourselves is a common complaint I come across when talking to clients.
🌞Establishing a strong morning routine is a great way to organize your day in order to fit in some well needed self-care.
🌞The first few mornings of practicing your morning routine can be very hard. I remember lying in bed trying to convince myself not to hit snooze and get up. Now, I can say with no hesitation having a morning routine has had such positive benefits, that I convince all my clients to give it a try.
🌞Here are some helpful strategies for setting your morning routine.
Give yourself enough time: Figure out what you want to accomplish and how much time you will need to get these things done. Then set your alarm for the new wake up time. (You may need to get to bed a bit earlier to get your usual amount of sleep)
Be flexible: You are trying to figure out the best routine for you. So forget about trying to create something perfect. This is more trial and error and figuring out what’s best for you and your situation. We don’t want to create more stress, so allow yourself to be flexible.
Consistency: Consistency is key. To form a habit we need to be consistent. This may be hard at first but when you practice consistently you will begin to see positive changes and feel motivated to continue. You may even start to enjoy it so much that it becomes more of something you want to do rather than something you are forcing yourself to do.
Ideas of what to include in your routine:
🧎🏽♀️Quiet time: The morning is a great time to practice spiritual self-care, try to include activities like prayer, meditation or journaling.
🏃🏽♀️Movement: The morning is also a great time to get your movement in for the day. Try going for a walk, run or do some yoga.
📖 Plan your day: Taking the time to plan your day allows you to schedule and prioritize, which helps to prevent feelings of being overwhelmed and stressed out.
Hope this helps!
