Healthy skin care tips

~Healthy skin care tips~

It wasn’t until I was diagnosed with a type of urticaria (skin rash, usually triggered by food, medication or stress), that I decided to focus more on skin care and what my skin was trying to tell me.  When we are younger skin isn’t really number one on our priority list.  For most of us, we start to care about our skin when we see our first wrinkle.

When you really think about how important of a job your skin has, maybe you would take care of it more than you do.

Our skin is our largest organ.  As a protective barrier it is our first line of defense.  Some other responsibilities include waste elimination, making vitamin D, absorbing compounds and regulating temperature.

When caring for your skin your first instinct is to use topical solutions, like lotions and creams, only addressing the area affected.  But, taking proper care of your skin also involves focusing internally to address imbalances.

Self-care tips for your skin:

  • 💦Keep yourself hydrated

  • 🐟 Focus on including healthy fats, like omega 3

  • 😓Do your best to reduce stress

  • 🚬🍸 Cut back on toxins in your life, like smoking and drinking

  • 🥛Eliminate foods that cause allergic reactions, intolerances or promote inflammation

I hope you find this helpful.
