3 Fast stress relief strategies

Here are 3 activities that help me to feel calmer when I have had a stressful day.

  1. 🤗 Hugs 🤗

Hugs are one of my favorite things to give and receive.  I didn’t realize how much I loved hugs until covid came and hugs became a scarce commodity.  Oxytocin, a hormone in our bodies that is associated with happiness and less stress, actually rises with physical touch. So, getting a hug can make us feel less stressed and improve our mood.

  1. 🕯Aromatherapy 🕯

Certain scents can decrease the levels of stress hormones in our body.  I am a big user of candles and essential oils.  I realized the power of aromatherapy when I noticed that every time I smelled a cinnamon pumpkin pine scent, I was reminded of Christmas and would instantly feel happy, and sometimes I would even smile.  Since then, I always have my favorite candle scents available to burn when I want to relax.  I also diffuse serenity by @doterra and I swear it calms down my kids when they are acting insane.  😉

  1. 🎨Create art 🎨

Getting in touch with your creative side can decrease your anxiety levels.  I used to paint and draw a lot more, but recently I just haven’t made the time.  I decided it’s worth it to me to start again… so here 👆is my most recent work 😊.  I know some of us feel they can’t draw or paint. But one thing we can all do is color.  Adult coloring books are everywhere now, so grab one and a pack of pencil crayons and give it a try.  Coloring can be extremely relaxing.  Keep it beside your bed and color before bed instead of flipping through Netflix. 💕

I hope these quick easy ideas will bring some calm to your life.
